Captain Lee Rosbach shared a touching tribute to his youngest son who died of a drug overdose, and he had a bit of sound advice for those battling addiction.
Captain Lee Rosbach and his wife Mary Anne laid their 42-year-old son, Joshua Lee Rosbach, who died of a drug overdose to rest over the weekend.
HE FOUGHT SO LONG AND SO HARD
Rosbach, who is still reeling from the loss took to Instagram to share a lengthy tribute in his son's honour. He started by writing that Joshua fought his addiction for twenty years until he gave in to the demons.
The "Below Deck" reality star added, "He fought so long and so hard," before calling addiction an "Insidious disease," that knows no social status or geographical location.
Rosbach lamented the fact that the disease leaves nothing but death and destruction in its wake, after which he expressed the profound love he and his family felt for his late son.
DON'T PRAY FOR US
The Bravo star admitted, "There's a hole in our soul that will never be filled," and because he knew his son would never return, he asked his followers and fans not to pray for his family.
Instead, Rosbach asked them to help those who are battling addiction any way they can, and he pleaded with those dealing with it, to get help. The TV star asked his fans to spend time with those who have the disease, adding towards the end, "It's not too late for them."
JOSHUA WAS A GENTLE AND KIND SOUL
Joshua died on July 22, at his home in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. According to the tribute page opened in his honor, he passed away peacefully from an accidental drug overdose.
In his lifetime, the deceased, like his father, enjoyed being out in the water. He sailed and served as the first mate on a yacht, and his home was close to the sea.
Joshua never married, and his closest companion was his furry friend, Champ. The tribute page described the deceased as a "Kind and gentle soul" who loved his family and humanity.
The Rosbach family asked fans and well-wishers not to send flowers, but give the money to the Humane Society of Broward County. Joshua's parents survive him, as well as four siblings, Sheri, Glen, Sean, and Eric, and in them, his memory will live on.
