'He wouldn't set foot on a football pitch again' - Luis Enrique jokes about potential pregnancy cele

Having your manager as your potential father-in-law sounds like hell, but Ferran Torres and Luis Enrique seem to be getting on sensationally as they trade fun jibes.

Ex-Manchester City star Torres is dating Spain national boss Enrique's daughter Sira Martinez, and dedicated his two goals against Costa Rica to her.

That celebration was fairly normal but, back at the 1994 World Cup, Bebeto celebrated by 'rocking the baby' to celebrate the birth of son Mattheus.

And the former Barcelona boss and player was asked how he would react if Torres scored and celebrated with a hint he may be about to become a father.

Enrique wasn't messing about though, and replied: "I would replace him in that moment, put him on the stands, and he wouldn't set foot on a football pitch again."

It's not the first time Enrique has had a laugh about the situation.

Ahead of the 7-0 win over Costa Rica, Enrique was asked which member of Spain's 26-man squad would lead the line.

And he was quick to answer: “That’s very easy: it’s Mr Ferran Torres. Otherwise, my daughter will come after me and chop off my head."

And it seems Torres enjoys the relationship he has with Enrique, who he considers a paternal influence.

“I only have words of thanks. I consider him my father, he is like our father,” he explained.

“Since I have come to the national team, he has welcomed me in a spectacular way, he has given me all his confidence.

“This is what any player would want.”

Next up for Spain is a blockbuster Group E clash with Germany which is live on talkSPORT tonight.
