Howie Mandel Jokes about Coronavirus Toilet Paper Crisis after Showing up in Hazmat Suit at the Set

As contingency plans are made to handle the spread of the coronavirus, some people are still keeping their humor despite the seriousness of the matter.

Over the weekend, “America’s Got Talent (AGT)” judge Howie Mandel, 64, took to Instagram to show how he was dealing with the coronavirus outbreak. Mandel shared a short video on the social media platform talking about trying to buy toilet paper.

Toilet paper has been in shortage in several stores nationwide due to people buying them in bulk for the quarantine period. Making light of the situation, Mandel joked how he’d gone to the store at his wife’s behest.

“Thank God I found this on the sidewalk”

On arrival, the television personality shared how he’d gotten to the store where his wife had sent him out to buy toilet paper. Unfortunately, the store was already out of toilet paper.

Holding up a crumpled piece of tissue, the star joked: "But thank God I found this on the sidewalk just outside the store." He also captioned the post with the words: "Omg lucky me."

Mandel in a hazmat suit

Last week, Mandel, a known germaphobe, was seen arriving at a taping of AGT while wearing a hazmat suit. The celebrity was photographed as he arrived at the Pasadena, California set.

His suit came fully equipped with a gas mask and orange rubber gloves. Mandel tends to avoid shaking people’s hands and prefers giving them fist bumps instead.

Alex Azar makes toilet paper joke

Last week, the Secretary of Health and Human Services Alex Azar tried to make a joke about how people have been stocking up on toilet paper amid the coronavirus crisis.

Azar, 52, joked that the household item wasn’t “an effective defense against getting the coronavirus.”

The reason behind the toilet paper sales

The virus has been found to not be directly related to one’s bowels. It seems people are stocking up on certain essentials in the effort to avoid having to go outside during the quarantine.

However, stores have promised to provide more toilet paper to meet the current demand.
